About US

VHEDA Africa is a grassroots nonprofit based in rural Togo, dedicated to bridging the digital divide through hands-on computer training. Led by founder Mawina-Esso Akoro, we focus on equipping underserved youth and teachers—many of whom have never used a computer—with essential digital skills. By providing access to basic computer literacy in remote villages, VHEDA empowers communities to engage with the digital world, improve education outcomes, and unlock new economic opportunities in an increasingly tech-driven age.

At VHEDA, we believe in the power of honest and committed volunteerism to transform lives. Our work centers around fostering self-reliance, encouraging innovation, and promoting personal growth. Through coaching, training workshops, and community-based projects, we aim to create lasting impact in under-served areas of Togo.

Our Vission

To bridge the digital divide in rural Togo by equipping youth and teachers with essential computer skills, fostering educational growth, innovation, and opportunities for a brighter, self-reliant future.

Our Mission

To empower youth and teachers in rural Togo by providing access to computer training that builds digital literacy, fosters self-reliance, and opens pathways to education and opportunity in a connected world.

Our Values

We value strong relationships built on collaboration, open communication, and teamwork. Everything we do is rooted in Pride, Integrity, and Dignity.

Where We Are

In many rural parts of Togo, students still learn in under-resourced schools without basic amenities. Classrooms lack electricity, desks, and especially computers. Meanwhile, many teachers have never used a computer themselves and are unequipped to provide digital education. This digital divide severely limits students’ ability to gain the skills needed in today’s world.

Where We Aim to Be

We envision modern, well-equipped classrooms where every student has access to a computer and digital learning tools. Teachers are trained and confident in using technology to enhance education, and students are empowered with the digital skills they need to thrive in today’s connected world. This is the future we’re working toward—one classroom, one child, one computer at a time.
